We interview Patrick and Kat Lysaght from Chara Games! The couple currently find themselves in South Korea where Patrick is stationed for the Air Force. What a great opportunity to learn a little about the board game community over there, while also learning about what makes their company special.

Chara Games is a board game publisher focused on creating Christian themed board games. The sentiment around their recently kickstarted game, “Commissioned,” is positive and hailed as a game that can be enjoyed by anyone (not simply Christian players). For Patrick and Kat, creating a game themed around the Christian faith often fuels natural discussion, which can be a delight to those looking to share their faith with their family and friends.

The market for Christian themed games is unique and small, so we felt this was be a great opportunity to discuss niche marketing. While most board game publishers are reaching out to board game distributors, Pat and Kat also have the option of marketing their game to Christian focused shops and book stores. Targeting relevant distribution channels that don’t often see board game related products can be a great way to stand out from others and grow a business.
