Episode #4 – Questioning the Universe

October 01, 2014

In this episode Jack and I question the universe. We start by talking about those unique moments when a series of events unfold in such a way that you are forced to ask yourself if there really is a such thing as coincidence. We then briefly discuss how amazing it is that some autistic individuals have access to unique abilities that are unprecedented. Before heading onto deeper discussions such as what it would be like to live a life completely free of bias and opinions.

Is not having opinions beneficial? Do opinions and bias create a filter that misguide us?
Listen to this episode and discover new perspectives on questions such as these.

I hope you guys enjoyed this talk as much as we did!

3:00 - "Dream Book I got for Christmas"

It's an alright book so far..

4:52 - Horoscopes aren't applicable to individuals:
Check out this really short article that's quite honestly, one of the best articles I've read in quite awhile. Gave me a lot of awareness.

5:00 - "Seriously, a lot of people think they are loyal":
I don't think a lot of people think they are loyal, it was just a poor example without clarification.

17:00 - Stephen Wiltshire:

If you'd like to learn more about him, here's a documentary.

I still couldn't figure out which city he donated a portrait to, maybe it wasn't a city. If you figure it out, let me know.

42:49 - The quote:
"The most powerful tool we possess to change our reality is the focus of our attention" - Russel Targ
This quote is from the book, Miracles of Mind: Exploring Nonlocal Consciousness and Spritual Healing (Exploring Nonlocal Consciousness and Spiritual Healing) by Russel Targ / Jane Katra

Jack says it's pretty boring.

49:16 - "I'm one of them":
By this I meant, "I'm one who doesn't claim to be someone who's unbiased". I want to clarify this because while listening to the episode I realized that it sounded more like I meant that I was an unbiased person, which is certainly not true. Unfortunately I am biased on many things, though I'm less biased than most people. - Waldo

1:17:20 - LifeStraw:

Here's a link to it on Amazon at low cost:

The Power of Now (A guide to Spiritual Enlightenment) by Eckhart Tolle

Much of the conversation that Jack brought to the table, I could tell, was because of this book. And the episodes challenge is from the content within this book as well. I highly recommend reading it.

If you're interested in buying it, shop around for a good price. Amazon sells it pretty cheap and it doesn't surprise me that the book is the #1 item for the Meditation category.

Be conscious of your thoughts and actions. Whether it's for an hour, a day, a week, or a month. Give a portion of your time to listening to your thoughts as if though they are not really your thoughts. Then ask yourself if those are the thoughts you wish to be having. Be sure to notice thoughts or actions that you've previously never truly noticed, such as instinctive actions like turning off the morning alarm. Spend a moment away from yourself, and live within the present.
