Today’s Holy Spirit Love Note:

That feeling you have where you would move heaven and earth if you could to stop your loved one being in pain? Or the desire to do almost anything in order to have one more day with them? The ache you feel, the pain of searing loss? Who do you think you get that from?

You’re made in my image. You love because I love. You experience the pain of separation because I am pained by separation. You’d stop at nothing because I stop at nothing to be in relationship with you. That’s why I’m so serious about us doing life together. It pains me, literally, to spend even one more day separated from one of my dear ones.

And almost as painful as separation is the pain of being misunderstood or ignored. Every time I reach out to you and you decide to check your email or social media one more time instead, I am grieved. I’m not saying that to make you feel guilty. I simply need you to see how important our relationship is, how seriously I take it. You don’t like it when someone you love misunderstands your intentions and neither do I!

Too many of my children think I’m out to get them or unmoved by their situation. Some of them think they must recite a certain set of words in a very specific order so that I will hear and act. They put up walls between us, walls that I am very capable of scaling but don’t because they are afraid of who they will meet on the other side.

I am pursuing you, relentlessly and with unapologetic determination. And not just you. Yes, you are incredibly special to me and this is about more than just you. My heart aches for humanity. I am for you, not against you. And there is nothing, ultimately, that will separate you from my love because I am love.
