Get Up Nation®! My name is Ben Biddick. I’m the Creator and Host of the Get Up Nation® Show and Co-Author of Get Up: The Art of Perseverance with former Major League Baseball player Adam Greenberg. Recently I had the honor and privilege of speaking with retired Army National Guard Master Sergeant Crystal Romero. Crystal held various positions in the Army throughout her career starting with logistics then on to Public Affairs as a photographer and journalist. The majority of Crystal’s career was with the New Mexico Counter Narcotics Task Force and running operations for the 64th Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team which was activated and responded to the Space Shuttle Columbia recovery efforts in 2003. During her final years in the military, she was a platoon sergeant, sexual assault victim advocate, member of the safety council, and ran the joint substance abuse program for the entire state of New Mexico. She is highly decorated. It was a privilege hearing how Crystal has committed her life to ensuring that honorable service members experience the security and safety they need and deserve as they serve our country. Her heart to serve men and women in uniform who are facing sexual violence, drug and alcohol abuse, and suicide are a tremendous credit to her as she continues to serve our nation by serving them.
