How to Organize a Publishing Schedule to Ensure Long-term Success | The School of Internet Marketing - Episode #25

June 30, 2014

Are you struggling to keep up with the demands for fresh content by Google? Thinking you aren’t writing enough new content to grab the attention of the search engines and therefore not generating any visitors? You can solve the problem and generate regular traffic to your website by organizing a publishing schedule.

Many business owners struggle with organizing a schedule to keep their website up to date with fresh content. Some business owners can wake up in the morning and wonder what they are going to publish on their website that day.

If you’re interested in learning how to help your website attract visitors, then you’ll want to invest 20 minutes to listen to this podcast. In this edition of The School of Internet Marketing podcast, your host Nick Jaworski interviews James Martell, founder of The School of Internet Marketing and Vice President of Product Development for jambMEDIA about how you can organize an article schedule for your website.

This is a must listen podcast for those business owners who want to be attracting online customers but are finding it difficult to work out how to create the content on a regular basis to do just that.

Our Busy Lives

James begins by stating he understands it is hard for those in business to come up with the time to create content for articles on a regular basis.

There is also the problem that many businesses will start a great blog and after two or three weeks they miss a post. Then they miss a couple of week’s posts and before long, publication of new material becomes very irregular. This can lower the online footprint of the brand.

For long term success, those who are in charge of producing new material for websites need to consider the use of a schedule for planning, creation and publication of that content.

Answering the Audience’s Questions

Part of the first step of the schedule is working out what you want to write about. For this your audience and customers can be really important. They are the ones who will be asking regular questions and these should be written down for future reference.

Then, once you have done this, you should look at the questions and come up with a list of topics your audience wants to read about. From there you can create a schedule which should last a year with either one or two posts each week.

Creating a Schedule

A schedule is very important and it is something which you need to design for your business. In this podcast, James explains his reasoning and gives answers and tips for these questions:

  • Why is creating a yearlong schedule good for your business?
  • What other content, beside your blog, can you use your topics for?
  • How do you write the best schedule?
  • Can a schedule increase your online footprint?
  • How can you use MailChimp and other email platforms to constantly keep in touch with your audience, while using the same content?

Are You Ready For a Schedule?

Do you need to sit down and start organizing a publishing schedule? Do you think a schedule is the best marketing tool you could produce this year? Then listen to James in this insightful podcast and come back to let us know what you think.
