GTC250: Knock Knock. Hue’s There.

January 14, 2016

Summary:
The Browns get their man and his name is Hue. Will Coach Jackson be able to turn this ship around and align with the newly redesigned front office? Speaking of front office, the Browns made news with their hiring of baseball’s Moneyball guy Paul DePodesta. How will analytics shape the future of a team that has struggled to find its identity, and any success, since they returned in 1999? No one knows right now, but fans are excited. The season doesn’t start for 8 months, but here... It’s GameTime!

Hosts: Mike Kresic, Tom Kresic

Running Time: 35:38

1Q: Browns Get Their Coach

Team named Hue Jackson as Head Coach on Wednesday. He also interviewed with San Francisco and was set to interview with the NY Giants Thursday, but the team came to terms before he had to fly out to NY.
Team also had interviewed Adam Gase (who took Dolphins job on Saturday) and Jax DC Doug Marrone, Panthers DC Scott McDermott, Cowboys DB Coach Jerome Henderson and Lions Assistant Teryl Austin
Players love playing for Jackson. He was 8-8 in one season as Raiders HC. Then a new GM was hired and he made a coaching change.
Was a QB in College and has been HC for most of 30 years. Been in AFC North (Baltimore and Cincy for most of last 10 years).
Credited with QB development (Flacco, Pryor, Dalton, McCarren).

2Q: Browns Make A Splash with MoneyBall Hire

Paul DePodesta hired to be the Analytics guru for the Browns. He will report to Haslam.
People across the League are applauding the move. Critics are fearful with the amount of power he will have and think he will be drafting players and playbooks.

3Q: Cavaliers

The team is starting to put it all together.
Blatt is trying to figure out the rotations, and some guys not getting many or any minutes.
Against Dallas, he went with a small ball lineup in the 2nd half, forcing Dallas to adjust to us instead of the other way around.
Beat Minnesota, Philly, Washington and Dallas to start this trip with San Antonio and Houston remaining.

4Q: NFL Playoffs

Bengals penalties and fumble gave away a certain win to the Steelers
Hoyer was horrible as Texans got shutout by Kansas City
Green Bay got their mojo back on offense as they came from behind to squash Washington
Minnesota K Blair Walsh missed a 27yd FG that would have won the game against Seattle
All four home teams lost in the first weekend
Divisional Round Matchups:

#5 Kansas City @ #2 New England
#6 Seattle @ #1 Carolina
#6 Pittsburgh @ #1 Denver (looks like Big Ben and Peyton will get start. Will Antonio Brown? PacMan says he’ll only apologize if Brown misses the game)
#5 Green Bay @ #2 Arizona (did GB find their offense or was this just a mirage against Washington? Cardinals D should be much tougher)
