GTC247: Fighting Irish, Not Final 4

December 09, 2015

Summary:
With a quarter of the season left to play, the Browns finally decide it’s Manziel time. How long that lasts remains to be seen. Meanwhile, the Cavs hit some bumps in the road and the Buckeyes learn their bowl fate. It’s GameTime!

Hosts: Mike Kresic, Tom Kresic

Running Time: 31:11

1Q: Browns Beaten by Bengals

Bengals 37, Browns 3
Guys getting hurt, ahem, quitting left and right. Travis Benjamin and Marlon Moore both left with concussions. Yet neither Dwayne Bowe or newly resigned Terrelle Pryor were able to be active for this one.
Scores will be ugly against the last four opponents. Might be time to walk the dog on Sunday afternoons.
Pettine acknowledges that the organization is not on the same page. Fans are stunned by this shocking news.

2Q: Four Games To Go

Another losing season, with a quarter of the season still left. San Fran, @ Seattle, @ Kansas City, Pittsburgh.
It’s gotta be Manziel time now, if for no other reason than to draw fans to the stadium for the last two home games. On Tuesday, Pettine confirmed Manziel will be starter.
Block your calendar for January 4th, the Monday after the season ends. Because there will undoubtedly be another house cleaning.

3Q: No Title Defense for the Buckeyes

All of the teams ahead of the Buckeyes in the standings took care of their own business over the weekend. Clemson knocked off North Carolina. Alabama breezed past Florida. It took until the final minute but Michigan State squeaked past Iowa. And Oklahoma had it locked up two weeks ago.

#4 Oklahoma vs #1 Clemson
#3 Michigan State vs #2 Alabama

Ohio State will face up against Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl on January 1st.
Disappointing that there’s no playoffs for this loaded team. But that 3 point loss in the rainstorm was enough to derail the hopes.

4Q: Cavaliers Struggles Continue

Not a good look when Kevin Love only scores 5 points (2-11 shooting) in the 99-84 loss to the Heat in Miami on Saturday. Blatt had planned that LBJ would sit this one out, since it was on the back-end of a consecutive night New Orleans-Miami road trip.
That’s 3 straight losses and four of their last six. But still 13-7 on the season and in 1st place in the Eastern Conference.
Team visits Orlando on Friday, then Kevin will see his old buddy Kelly Olynyk in Boston on Tuesday.
