GTC245: Johnny’s Team Now

November 17, 2015

Summary:
After another crushing loss to the Steelers, the Browns owner says no front offices changes right now. But there’s a change at QB as the Browns name Johnny Manziel the starter for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes season gets serious now with Sparty coming to the Shoe. It’s GameTime!

Hosts: Mike Kresic, Tom Kresic

Running Time: 41:00

1Q: Buckeyes Top the Illini

Ohio State 28, Illinois 3
JT Barrett struggled in this one with fumbles, throws, and an INT. He has to locate his passing touch if the Buckeyes are going to go far.
Zeke turned it on in the second half on his way to a 181 yard, 2 TD performance
College Football Playoff Rankings had the Buckeyes at #3 thus far, but Tuesday’s rankings were not out at the time of this podcast.

2Q: It Gets Serious Now For The Buckeyes

No more soft schedule. It gets serious now.
Michigan State, then @ Michigan on 11/28.
Then probably Iowa in the B1G Championship for a return trip to the College Football Playoff.

3Q: Browns Embarrassed Again in Pittsburgh

Steelers 30, Browns 9
The Browns gave up 188 yards on 12 penalties!
Manziel fumbled first play, threw a red zone INT on another and racked up meaningless yards in between in drives that ultimately led to 9 points.
That was enough progress for Pett, who named Johnny the starter for the balance of this season.
The defense was regularly burned by Big Ben on several deep plays (when they weren’t committing penalties).
Landry Jones was hurt on his 2nd play. Roethlisberger played with his injured foot and the Browns could never touch him.
Haslam says “No change” as the team enters its bye week.

4Q: Cavs Going retro to honor 70s team

They are bringing back the original gold uniforms. Sweet! Will they bring back the afro, too? C’mon Cavs. Gonna make it happen!
Team getting everyone’s best effort this year, like the Buckeyes. And we’re not firing on all cylinders, even with Kyrie and Shump out. But we’re still pretty darned good.
Delly-Tristan connection looks good. Delly looks more confident running the offense when he is out there this year.
