We recently spoke to Dr. John Foreyt, Professor and Director of the Behavioral Medicine Research Center at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Dr. Foreyt is one of the principal investigators for Look AHEAD (Action for Health in Diabetes), a  clinical trial designed to identify effective lifestyle interventions for people with diabetes that achieve and maintain weight loss.

With concerns surrounding health conditions such as obesity and type 2 diabetes, the Look AHEAD study offers great insights into how incidence and prevalence of these conditions may be improved. The study is focusing on the disease most affected by overweight and obesity, type 2 diabetes, and the outcome that causes the greatest morbidity and mortality, cardiovascular disease.
