Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Agent Coulson is alive and kicking! We talk about how magical of a place Tahiti is and we discuss how he came back after the first Avengers movie. Greg doesn’t feel that the rebirth of Agent Coulson was a very smooth integration to the movies, while Sheryl thinks it was a brilliant concept. We go over the main characters and describe their roles and the basic plot of season 1. We also liked how well they did integrate the story line of season 1 into the Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

We loved this movie! Neither of us were big Captain America fans growing up, but we love the new movies. We also love how well Marvel has been integrating (apart from Coulson coming back to life in the T.V. series) all of the movies and story lines into one cohesive story. Sheryl really liked the inclusion of Falcon in this movie (go figure she loves birds), and we both really liked how the series tied into this movie pretty directly, and being able to see whats happening behind the big super heroes. Hydra infiltrating and taking over the giant, “big brother”, automated killing drones to take out anyone who doesn’t fit into Hydra’s very specific view of humanity is a scary thought.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Where the fuck is Thanos? Where the fuck is Ant-Man? Why are the teasers so dark and depressing? Still, we are really looking forward to this movie!

Gaming

Dragon Age: Origins

We have been waiting for a good D&D style video game ever since we finished Baldur’s Gate 2 back on the PlayStation. Dragon Age: Origins really fills that role. It is a fun, detailed RPG that even for its age has beautiful graphics and a really really good story. The character creation is simple yet detailed just enough to make sure your character looks how you want. At first look, the three choices of classes seems really restrictive, but once you get into the game you realize that each class can be played very differently depending on your choices when leveling up and selecting feats, skills and talents. One of the biggest draws to the game is the deep story and they do a really good job at making you feel like an important character relatively quickly and you feel like a hero.

Cool Shit

Lars Anderson, Fastest Archer in the World

This guy is friggin amazing! Able to shoot three arrows (with extreme accuracy) in 0.6 seconds, grab arrows out of the air and fire them back in one fluid motion, and can even split incoming arrows mid-flight with his own! Watch the video and be amazed!

App of the Week

Ingress

Ingress is a ARMMORPG GPS-dependent game (say that 250,000 times fast, we dare you!) Now what that means is that it is an Augmented Reality Massively Multiplayer Role-Playing Game which is GPS dependent. Ok, so basically all the players are “Agents” trying to wrest control of virtual portals placed in real-world locations from the other faction in an attempt to either help or deny the Shapers entrance into our world. Ok, so basically the Shapers are alien beings trying to come into our world and we are split into two factions, the Enlightened who believe the Shapers are humanities evolution, and the Resistance, who are trying to keep the Enlightened from letting mankind be enslaved by the alien race. Choose a side and join the game that is not a game.

I’m Feelin’ Lucky

Google Fiber

Yes, Google is creating their own gigabit ISP service, yes, GIGABIT internet. 1000mbps. Our 50mbps seems so freakin’ slow now. They are also planning on offering TV and phone service also. Unfortunately they are only starting in a handful of cities right now, but will be expanding throughout the U.S. eventually. If you happen to be one of the luckiest fucks in the world and have Google Fiber, let us know your experience with it so far.
