MSPIFF 2015: Don’t Think I’ve Forgotten: Cambodia’s Lost Rock & Roll.
This documentary about Cambodia’s lost music scene is incredible on many levels besides the infectious music: the fashion, the burgeoning culture scene, the growing independent country in the thick of the 1950s… If you could travel back in time this is definitely a must-see destination. Sadly, the Vietnam war and the Khmer Rouge brought it all to a halt and even drastically and brutally regressed the country into a prison/labor state that outright killed many artists. That any of this art and music and people survived is a minor miracle. Go see this film and celebrate their passion.
