Episode 68 – Taking the Browns to the Superbowl

October 08, 2014

Woody needs to sell the team.

The Jets are once again the laughing stock of the NFL. Forget about Geno Smith and his regression, his league leading turnovers, his poor performance, hi disrespect of fans and of Rex and the team by missing meetings. Forget about the lack of talent around him and overall on this team. Forget about the 24 million dollars of salary cap room left on the table. Forget about not resigning Cro, not signing DRC or Revis, or Champ, or Ed Reed. Forget about all that stuff. Lets just look at the dysfunction of how the team is run. Woody owns the team and wants to pretend he’s not involved in the football side of things. He Hires Tanny who Hires Rex. Woody likes Rex because he keeps the team in the papers. Woody fires Tanny and hires Idzik, who is forced to keep Rex. Rex and Idzik don’t get along. Idzik takes away Rex’s power, so not even the head coach can make depth chart decisions. Whenever asked about things, he always says “it’s a jet decision” thats code for, it’s not my call, I’m being forced to draft, and start Geno. Idzik is saving all this cap room for the coach he wants after he fires Rex this year. But does Idzik want Geno? or does Woody? …..

Giants are rolling. They have won 3 straight and are only 1 game back in the division. Prior to the start of the season and even through the first 2 weeks, they looked awful. Now the offense is clicking and the defense has gelled. Things are going well for big blue and all of a sudden, the faith in GM Jerry Reese has been renewed after fantastic performances by rookies Andre Williams and the debut of OBJ. Will Giants fans continue to doubt him if things go badly or does their recent success prove that he’s a GM anybody would be lucky to have.

Cowboys. The Cowboys. They are 4-1 and playing like the team they are on paper. Demarco Murray is playing like the O-MVP (670 yards through 5 games) right now and Romo is completing nearly 70% of his passes and has almost a 2:1 TD:Int ratio. Screw it up like always or is it finally time?

Eagles have now scored a TD 7 different ways this season with only the blocked FG for TD left to go. They have scored multiple defensive turnovers in each of their last 2 games. Despite no great receiver on the team (Riley Cooper? Jordan Matthews?) and Shady McCoy playing like a bum, they are getting it done. Chip Kelly? System? will we see copycats of his style in the coming years? (individual treatments)

Browns pull off the largest road comeback win in NFL history. Only 25 points down at the half. More surprised it’s never been done or that it was the Browns that did it?
