Episode 59 - Cry Me a River

December 05, 2013

200 is the new 100

In the past few weeks we’ve seen Calvin Johnson go for over 300 yards receiving, Josh Gordon over 200 yards twice, Alshon Jeffery over 200, Knowshon Moreno over 220 yards rushing. Is hitting the 200 mark now becoming the benchmark for a good game rather than an amazing feat? Is 100 yards the minimum required to earn your paycheck if you’re a 1 or 2?

Da Bears have lost 2 straight and 3 of 4, most of which while Josh McCown has been their QB and 2 those losses have been within their division, although he’s played fantastic and the Brandon Marshall/Alshon Jeffery tandem is by far the best 1-2 punch in the NFL. Complemented with Matt Forte, they have a terrific offense, but can’t seem to get in the win column lately. They have a rookie head coach in Trestman and a stigma that the bears are a defensive team. They aren’t. They are an offensive powerhouse and need to start playing like it. Their loss to the vikings in overtime was a direct result of poor coaching decisions by trestman.

buccs and Jags started 0-8, worst teams in league, and now aren’t even in last place in their divisions! Both teams have now won 3 of 4 and are sitting at 3rd place in their division. Houston and Atlanta would both pick before them, but the Falcons don’t need a QB, so either they can trade down or at least one will still be available.

In 2010 Pete Carroll took over as Head Coach for the Seattle Seahawks

Since 2011, there have been 8 suspensions for PED use or substance abuse on the team including Bruce Irvin and Richard Sherman, although Sherman won his appeal and did not serve his suspension. Regardless, in this league it’s guilt by association. Now, the

Seahawks face another suspension for substance abuse in the form of a 1 year suspension to CB Brandon Browner. This comes at the same time Walter Thurmond begins serving his 4 game suspension. culture of team. worse than detroit?

This is a team thats the current 1 seed in the NFC with perhaps the best home field advantage in the league and they currently have a 2 game cushion for the #1 seed after their dominating win over the Saints this past monday night. Even without Browner and Thurmond, is there anybody that can beat this team in Seattle?

In the AFC, we have the Broncos, who have huge question marks regarding Peyton playing outdoors in the cold in January, and the Patriots. The Chiefs are good but have lost 3 straight and will end up a wildcard and won’t get any home field playoff games, so we can’t rely on them. Are we destined to see a Bronco/Patriot AFC title game (again) and if so do the Broncos have a chance?

Garcon gets JACKED

Nick Foles! now has 19 tds and 0 interceptions. Has his team in first place and have won 4 straight. Give me a reason he shouldn’t be in the MVP discussion?
