This week we welcome the Executive Director of Folsom Street Events Demetris Moshoyannis to the show. Demetris is tasked with organizing and running the ins and outs of the infamous Folsom Street Fair, the world's largest kink event. I chat with him about the history of the fair, its cultural place within the rapidly-gentrifying San Francisco, and more.
Plus, I rant about the misreported "Kanye Western" party that took place at UCLA last week that sparked online outrage and think pieces, in particular this one. The piece has since removed an unattributed picture of a girl dressed in brown makeup on her face, leading me to believe (given the way the rest of the article was written and its omission of many sources), that they just found an offensive picture unrelated to the actual party and decided to use it.
Social justice is great. Internet-shaming through intentionally molding someone into the bad guy you want them to be is not.
