Eating and drinking are activities that everyone does, that we enjoy, that bring us closer together, and that we need to do to stay alive. In a sense, we need and find the same things in Jesus Christ. So, it makes perfect sense that Jesus should offer himself to us in bread and wine. This is the Eucharistic imagination!
