"The Promised Mystery of Redemption" (Luke 24:25-27, Gen.3:15)
Scripture: Isaiah 53 What did Jesus teach the disciples about the Old Testament writings during the 40 days after his resurrection? He explained to his disciples how everyone misconceived the prophecies of the prophets (Lk.24:25-27). He told them how the promised Messiah needed to suffer, which would have been counter-intuitive especially for those looking for a great King. He explained humankind's greatest need was they need atonement for their sin. This is the historical mystery; the Christmas Backstory: The coming Messiah prophesied over many many years, would come to suffer and die for his people, so that they would have life eternal. And this is glorious.
