#23 - Deb Vangellow: Building Relationships With Golf

November 21, 2014

Success in business…

Relationships – sometimes we lose the people in the process. We need to remember that it comes back to the relationships we have with people. If we have a welcoming environment, we create success.

Golf education…

This is one of the biggest areas we can impact in terms of growing the game.

Tips for relationship building:

- Greet everyone you see with a smile and general conversation-starter.

- Nice matters, no matter what is happening.

- People love to talk about their golf game!

Opportunities for the golf industry

Golf will always be there, but facilities need to remember to make it about the golfer in order to be successful. Think about the experience of the golfer and look at the environment created.

Consider bringing in independent contractors who are skilled and keen to teach. They can add that personable level to your business and independent contractors will not cost your facility anything.

Deb’s wish for the golf industry…

Whatever the scenario relating to golf, make it ok. For example if people don’t want to keep a scorecard or only want to play a few holes.
