EE019 - Peter Legge, the man, the legend
It was a thrill to interview Peter Legge, legendary businessman, author, and speaker. I have admired Peter numerous times as he
performed on stage, but I was blown away by his honesty and insights in this interview.
You are going to love this one and learn so much about creating real success.
This is a man who has nothing to learn as a businessman or leadership expert, yet he is still committed to improving and honing his craft.
Peter shared his story of working the clubs (including the Playboy club) and being on the ‘circuit’ as a comedian long before he ever can to his first speaker conference. From there he was earning is 10,000 hours (Malcolm Gladwell) doing up to 10 speeches in a week!
If you are new to the speaking industry, or a veteran, you are going to learn what it takes to being a professional long-term. Here are some insights Peter shared:
“I realized that 80% of people that were in this industry 10 years ago are no longer in the business because they forgot it was a business”
“Most speakers are afraid of dead air”
“Getting to and from the gig is a bit of a pain. But once I am introduced I love it. I’m surprised by this, but I love it as if it was my first speech.”
Listen in and learn the biggest mistake speakers make and what Peter does instead.
Enjoy! And leave a comment below – I want to know what you learned from this remarkable man.
