EIT 042: Personal Growth | Enneagram Personality Types

April 17, 2015

Show notes: www.entrepreneursintraining.net/42 In this episode Paul and I discuss the enneagram personality test. Paul and I took a free version of the test to discover our enneagram personality type. We talk about what we learned and how it could impact the way we work.
What Is Your Enneagram Personality Type?
Take your own abbreviated enneagram test!
What is the enneagram and what is its history?
The enneagram itself is "a geometric figure that delineates nine basic personality types of human nature and their complex interrelationships." Each number represents a personality type. From: http://www.enneagraminstitute.com The modern day version was developed around 1950 by Oscar Ichazo, a Bolivian Philosopher. The science of the enneagram is still rather limited but a few recent studies have started to validate the 9 distinct enneagram personality types.
Enneagram Personality Types
Each personality type is represented by a number. When you are in a healthy state the positive traits of your type are dominant. When you are unhealthy, the negative traits dominate. The 9 types are listed below with their primary motivations in parentheses:

The Reformer (To have integrity, to be balanced)
The Helper (To feel loved)
The Achiever (To feel valuable and worthwhile)
The Individualist (To find themselves and their significance-to create an identity)
The Observer (To be capable and competent)
The Loyalist (To have security and support)
The Enthusiast (To be satisfied and content—to have their needs fulfilled)
The Challenger (To protect themselves-to be in control of their own life and destiny)
The Peacemaker (To have inner stability "peace of mind")

Your personality may also be influenced by wings and arrows, which you can learn more about or through this Art of Simple podcast. Tune into the show to find out what our enneagram personality types are, what we think about them, and ways we can grow from this process.
