How To Be A Wise Master Builder Like Noah - Build Conference 2014

April 03, 2014

In the final message of the Build Conference Pastor Mark Morgan of Abounding Grace in San Francisco, Ca teaches a lesson on the absolute necessity of allowing God to build you as an individual as he leads you to build a work for Him.

Here are the keys…

Everything the Lord builds endures.  Without instruction Noah would have never been able to build a structure with enough fortitude to save his own family (let alone all of the animals God asked him to bring along for the ride).  There were other small boats I’m certain, but none built to the exact specifications.  Man’s efforts can only go so far, and his work built with the wrong material will only last so long.

Noah started with the right instructions.  His direction came from the Lord.  If there is one voice worth listening to is His.  Every other voice of Noah’s day spoke against the idea of a flood.  “You mean water which has always come from the ground in abundant dew…is somehow going to float up to the sky and start falling down? From way up there? So much that the earth will not even be able to be touched for months?” Every voice was a voice of ridicule and mockery.  Noah, listened to the one voice that spoke the whole universe into existence in the beginning. The Bible says he was moved with fear.

Noah started with the right material.    Build with what God asked you to build with.  Everything we desire to build in life, be it metaphorically or physically, must be built with the right stuff. You want to build a family? How about a ministry? Want to mentor a child and build a man of valor or woman of virtue?  Would you ever think of starting with inferior material in hopes of a superior product?  Love never fails.  Build with it.  It stands the test of time and covers a multitude of sin.   Build with something that will never give out or give up on you when you need it the most.

Noah started and let the Lord finish.  Our talents, abilities, and efforts should certainly all be used for the Lord.  We may complain that they can only take us so far… as if God wasn’t looking at us saying… “I know. I’m the one that gave them to you, clown.”  The beauty of this scenario is that Lord only asks us to move as far as our own abilities can take us.  When we’ve reached the limit of what we can do… He gladly steps in to finish the work… to go exceeding abundantly above all that we could ask or think.

Noah did everything the Lord asked him to do, and the ark was complete.  There was one thing he could not do… close the door.  It took the divine hand of God to pick up where man left off.  God authored the instruction. By faith Noah built the ark to the saving of his house. (Because faith without works is dead)  The Lord closed the door and finished the work.  He is the author and finisher of our faith.

      What will you build with?
