The Build Conference is formed by the North American Missions Division of The Western District UPCI.  It is designed to give church planters and growers the tools needed to Build an Apostolic Ministry.

     In this episode Pastor Chris Hodge of The Upper Room Pentecostals in Lake Isabella walks through his personal testimony of leading his family through the journey of starting a church from absolute scratch.  He and his wife were youth pastors in Bakersfield, Ca.  When 2 young ladies in their youth group were forced to move to Lake Isabella wherein there was no Apostolic influence they decided to start a church for these young ladies to grow in.

     From that point he explains the mistakes they made that delayed their growth for many years.  Openly he speaks about the emotions and struggles and times of doubting they went through on their journey.  It is encouraging to know that it is inevitable that every person attempting to grow something under the Lord’s leading will have to face this extreme opposition.  For those that are taking on this mission they will not be the first to face this struggle.  Others have had to grow through what you will go through.  This message makes it clear what it’s going to take for you to make it.  

     In hindsight he reveals the mindset that a family must have in order to persevere.  He reveals that his children have been the greatest asset to the growth of the church by allowing them opportunity to grow individually.  Since that is true it is imperative that priorities remain in the right place.  A minister must place his love for his family before his love for the church.  What is a man profited if he gains the whole world and loses his own family?

     I believe the insight given here is applicable to every area of ministry.  Whatever you are involved in specifically, whether it be an outreach director, bible quiz coach, youth leader, involved in hospitality, home bible study teacher, or fellowship leader… determination is the key to complete the work the Lord has called  you to do.  He that endureth to the end the same shall be saved.  You were called with a purpose and the Lord wants you to succeed.
