On today’s show, we talk to Ladar Levison, the creator of Lavabit.com. Ladar was pressured by the US Government to provide federal agents with a way for them to decrypt the messages transmitted via his encrypted e-mail service which was purported to have been used by Edward Snowden and other folks with very sensitive information.Today, Ladar is helping to develop darkmail (www.darkmail.info) and speaks on issues related to privacy and the technical side of keeping your secrets to yourself.
Warning to the listener: We covered a lot of ground in this episode, some of which is very technical in nature. While we intended to keep Ladar just 15 minutes or so into the aftershow, we ended up going the full extra hour with him and Ethan called a halt to things before we spun off the rails too too much.
