Podcast: Steve Sidwell, Longtime NFL Defensive Coordinator (Part 1)

January 29, 2013

Steve Sidwell is one of the nicest people I've ever met.
The long time NFL defensive coordinator talked to us about football and life. It was a great time.
Sidwell has coached hall of fame players in New Orleans, New England, Seattle, Houston, Indianapolis and SMU.
He was at SMU during the days recently documented in ESPN's 30 for 30, Pony Excess, and discussed that era and the scandal-ridden Southwest Conference.  We also got into the Ghosts of Ole Miss (another ESPN 30 for 30 documentary) era.
Steve delved into a couple TV and movie reviews including Spartacus.  We also discussed life as a coach, getting started in coaching, and various stories from his college and NFL stops. We briefly touch on the collision of politics and coaching.
Stay tuned for Part 2, which is coming soon.
