Gary Vaynerchuk on the Jets, Liquor, and Inspiration

January 20, 2013

I had a quick chat with Gary Vaynerchuk last night via his 1 a day Q&A program.  For those of you that don't know Gary, he wrote  the bestseller Crush It  (essential reading for anyone wanting to escape the 9 to 5) and created an extremely successful web video series called Wine Library TV.  Long story short, Gary Vee is huge. He will likely own the Jets someday.  He is a large part of the inspiration for this entire website.

I've always admired Gary's passion, and the vigilance with which he communicates with his audience. Just check out his Twitter feed.  Nearly 1 million followers and he seemingly responds to all of them.  He continues to put his money where his mouth is with this interview series.

The question that I'm left with after this interview (that I wish I dug into, but didn't have the mental wherewithal as I was conducting this from a busy Gillette Stadium parking lot), is how do we all cultivate Gary's level of "fire in the belly"? Most of us aren't born with it, but I do believe that we can train ourselves to be more motivated.

Maybe it's an aggressive daily routine of reminding ourselves what we want and why.  I don't know, but I think if we can dig more into how Gary came to be this way it could help us all.  Just something to think about.
