In SciComm episode 9, I am joined by James Lingford. James started his Bachelor of Science in Genetics at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2009. He then moved on to a Bioinformatics laboratory where crunched lots of genomic data before he became a research assistant. James now works in a synthetic biology laboratory at UWA where he works on engineering proteins that bind and manipulate RNA. We talk about pentatricopeptide repeat proteins (PPRs) and their impact on treating mitochondrial and neurodegenerative diseases.
