I got introduced to Nancy through Lucinda Slater who 'met' her on Twitter and then suggested she get in touch to feature on the show. After our pre-interview chat, I knew she had a story to tell! Nancy talks about how she left Canada, travelled round the world and ended in London. She went on to build a successful PR company before starting her new venture. Listen in here: Interview with Nancy Steidl

More about Nancy
Nancy is a driven, determined and dedicated thought leader, which is curious about people and the way that they think. Nancy aims to help other people succeed. Helping other people mindshift their views to understand that there is more to them, then what limits them.

Canadian born, bred and educated, Nancy started her career in the hospitality industry. In 1999, she came to London where she studied PR and Marketing at Regent Academy of Fine Arts graduating with honours. During her studies, she also worked for a leading UK real estate company, Foxtons where she qualified as a certified real estate agent. This offered her future opportunities to buy, sell and renovate properties.

Nancy’s years of experience in PR and Marketing in London started with Jori White PR working on accounts such as the launching of Cinnamon Club, Zilli Fish, and the White House in Clapham. In 2002, leaving Jori White PR, she was hired to launch the upscale restaurant Mint Leaf as in-house PR, where she worked alongside the team to set up the restaurant and bar concept stage. Specifically she developed the brand and communication strategy. Over a period of 2 years she marketed and promoted the venue to blue chip firms, the Press (design magazines, Harpers, Vogue, national and international press and TV) food and wine critics, food and drink guides (Time Out, Zagat) hotel concierges, party organisers and agents.

In October 2011, Nancy saw a bus billboard advertising a film with the tagline “you can change the world”. Whilst holding a newspaper at the time, she was fed up with the constant barrage of negativity and unproductive reporting surrounding the media and newspapers. She saw the inspiration in front of her to take the step to shift mainstream news in order to help society move into a more positive and productive direction with what individuals were reading in the news.

In June 2012, Nancy sold her flat to start funding the idea of a newspaper, which would offer a fresh perspective towards the mainstream news. The Positive was officially setup as a company in August 2012 however the website officially launched in January 2013. She spent over a year developing the brand, trademarked the name and started to work with driven, dedicated and talented young journalists. Nancy believes that The Positive is more than a newspaper. It is a business model to move the minds of people and society into a more positive and productive direction. You can find out more at: www.thepositive.com
