Starting in January 2015, Puerto Plata will see the start of a new era as a preferred tourist destination in the Dominican Republic, as Carnival Cruise Lines will inaugurate its flagship hub port in the Americas, based in Maimon Bay. Several cruiseships have already visited, starting with the MS Hamburg in March.
