The cost of poultry or chicken feed is an issue for all homesteaders and backyard farmers.  For those of us who are attempting to make an income from our homesteads it is even more critical.  For most of us, feed costs are the biggest single expense in raising chickens or other poultry.
There are numerous strategies that we can employ to lower our feed costs, and many of these strategies can actually provide our flock with much better nutrition at the same time.
This podast is an overview of alternative poultry feeds as well as ways that the average backyard farm or homestead can provide these feeds at little or no cost- helping to create a higher level of self-sufficiency in our operations as well as lower costs while providing our flock better nutrition.
