Nearly 50% of the average family budget is spent on food, transportation, and housing and we as responsible people must consider ways to prepare to provide for ourselves and our families should the buying power of our incomes continue to decline and we discuss a number of these strategies in this podcast.

Harvesting wild foods is one powerful tactic that you should consider, both for the impact that this could have on your budget as well as the health and nutritional value of wild foods.

Acorns are a food which can be used in numerous ways, and they are packed with vitamins and minerals as well as being a very complete protein source.  One of the biggest attractions that the acorn holds aside from the excellent flavor that it can give to your dishes is the fact that acorns have a low glycemic index and can be used to replace wheat flour in baked goods.
