Episode 6- Your Food is Killing You! How your food has become deficient in nutrients and loaded with chemical contaminants and what to do about it.

In the past several decades the nutritional quality of our food has declined dramatically, with some nutrients at a level 90% below that which the food that our grandpparents ate.  This is in part due to soil depletion, the selection criteria used to breed hybrid crops, the narrow selection of crops used in our food, and other factors.


In order to overcome this problem, the best strategy is to create a wider range of dietary choices using a combination of strategies including wild harvested foods and organically produced homegrown foods of a wider variety than we are accustomed to planting in our gardens.


In this episode we will explore ways to implement these strategies including proper foraging techniques, container gardening, raised bed gardening, conventional gardening, hugelculture, sheet mulching, sheet composting, and greenhouses.
