March 21, 2021

If you follow the podcast series then you'll recognize the guest. It's Barbara from episode 16 when she guided us around Thailand. Now she's back! I wanted to have a quick chat with her as she did something unheard of. Some 15 years ago she left her high level corporate job to travel the world. Despite people's warnings, Barbara went to chase her happiness. It's such a powerful story and to which many of us can relate to. About Barbara: After years of working 70-80 hours per week at jobs that paid the bills but brought no joy, a serious illness made Barbara Weibel realize she felt like the proverbial "hole in the donut" - solid on the outside but empty on the inside. In 2007, at the age of 54, Weibel walked aw from her successful career, sold or gave away most of her material possessions, and began traveling around the world in pursuit of her true passions: travel, photography, and writing. These days she makes her home in Thailand, which provides a base for traveling six to seven months each year. She writes about her adventures at Hole in the Donut Cultural Travel (https://holeinthedonut.com)."
