091-Hard to Breathe: A Black Woman's Perspective-Shenise Foote

June 12, 2020

In this episode I sit down with my friend, Shenise. Her willingness to guide me through a conversation about racism, her experience, and the state of her spirit is so much appreciated. Please take a look at 6 things that you can do right now.

  1. Check in with a Black friend or coworker to see how they are coping with everything right now.
  2. Establish or revisit policies in the workplace to ensure diversity AND equity are incorporated in hiring practices and day to day operations.
  3. Donate money to an organization that stands for/fights against social injustices.
  4. Call the DA’s office to ask/demand the four officers that were fired be charged.
  5. Created a safe space for Black people to come (rather personal space or professional).
  6. Speak up when friends or family say anything hateful, unthoughtful, racists.
