Getting Fit Over 40

To get fit over 40, you must worship at the alter of the "Qwan".

Exercise
Diet
Vitamins/Supplements
Rest

These 4 pieces are requirements for any successful fitness program, especially as we get older.  While it is entirely possible to make significant gains in the gym when we are younger by skipping one or two of these, our results as we age will be hampered without all four pieces in place.

Start by making an appointment with your doctor to make sure you are ready for a new fitness program.  Find a program that you enjoy doing and DO IT.  Make sure you eat clean and start reading the labels of everything you eat.  Stay away from high fructose corn syrup and other processed garbage.  Track your calories using an app like MyFitnessPal so you know what your intake is.  Drink lots of water, and lay off the alcohol!

The importance of a good multi-vitamin can not be overstated.  It is not a luxury, it is a requirement for optimal health and athletic performance.  Calcium and Magnesium are very im[ortant for strong bones and teeth and Omega-3s are great for circulatory system health and optimal brain function.

You must also make a concerted effort to get enough sleep.  Don't waste your effort in the gym by not giving your body time to recuperate from your workouts!
