Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadToday’s episode features the Myers boys from the Auburn University softball team. Head Coach Clint Myers and two of his assistant coaches who are also his sons, Casey Myers and Corey Myers.
I had the privilege to play for Coach Myers when he was the Head Baseball Coach at Central Arizona College. After I graduated, I came back to CAC and coached with him for a couple of years. He was not only the coach that I needed as a player, but as a distracted young man, he was just what I needed in my life. Clint Myers lives his life by the motto “Excellence is a way of life” and his teams take on this excellence as well. He has been elected to numerous Hall of Fames, won a total of nine national championships, and in his 11 years as a D1 softball coach, he has been to the Women’s College World Series 9 times and won 2 National Titles (Arizona State 2008, 2011).
They were hosting a softball camp for about 110 girls ages 12-18. If you ever get to attend one of their camps, DO IT! The amount of instruction that goes on is really impressive. The entire staff was super accommodating and their hospitality was amazing!
I really wanted to do this interview in person and I am really happy that they were able to accommodate my vision for this interview. The four of us sat in the old mans office and we recorded for two hours. We will have to do a “Part 2” because I only got to a fraction of the questions that I had…maybe we can get Corey and or Casey to record a “Q & A” episode for us, with questions submitted by you guys…Thoughts?
This is a really entertaining interview (I don’t think I’ve ever seen the old man belly laugh as much as he did), so sit back and enjoy my interview with Clint, Casey and Corey Myers. #WarEagle
