012 CMP- True Worship: With Pastor Matt Cagle

July 07, 2014

Listen in iTunes | Stitcher Radio

I think you all will enjoy the convo that I had with my expert co-host for today, who is Pastor Matt Cagle from Mar Vista Baptist Church talking on the awesome topic of true worship to our great God!

Hear from Pastor Matt about:

How he and his wife moved from a full time job as a youth pastor in Texas to San Diego with no jobs to serve God.
Worship biblically defined- Service rendered to the Lord, motivated by love for the Lord, done according to the word of the Lord.
Acceptable worship- “excellence” as a common idol put before “acceptable”
What the bible says congregational music should sound like
Focus on discernment and the word of God to know what God is like and what is acceptable to Him
The problem with a lack of a theological stance (the vacuum) in order to appeal to a wide “christian” audience
Avoid idolatry (making God what we want) by pursuing true knowledge of God in love
The “experience” trend in churches and worship music events
The purpose of congregational worship and how that needs to dictate what music we choose
Christian music in general and the need to focus on truth
