Celebrate Lyons: One Year Strong

September 17, 2014

This Celebrate Colorado is about the community of Lyons coming back together after the flood. It has been a year since the flood and a lot has happened in the small mountain town. Deb Lee Pearson, Disaster Recovery Manager for the Town of Lyons, and Sally Truitt, Lyons Artist and manger of One Year Strong, joins the conversation with Roger.

One Year Strong is an anniversary week of events, which will include art exhibits, barbeques, and presentations from Town leaders, Governor Hickenlooper, live music, a parade, and much more.

Deb Lee has over 25 years of professional community and private sector expertise with Federal, State, County and Municipal agencies, leading to progressive achievements, innovations, and improvements in operational functions for FEMA.

Sally is a local artist in Lyons, known for her unique and quirky style. Drawn mostly to weathered, discarded media found in or around nature (wood, rust, parts of things, tools, stains), Sally spends her creative efforts mostly on surreptitious retrieval of said objects from their lonely resting places and then transforming the pieces unpredictably and relocating them to a different environment, sometimes quietly back into nature for the unexpected enjoyment of an off road adventurer, sometimes smack onto the foyer walls of five star ski lodges in Telluride.
