PODCAST: How to end the dubia drama

January 13, 2017

Last week I spoke to Fr Mark Drew following his article on how to end the Dubia drama
To recap, in September a row erupted when four cardinals made public that they had submitted a list of dubia to Pope Francis, asking for clarity on Amoris Laetitia’s passage on Communion for the divorced and remarried. Four months later the Pope has still not responded and angry words have been exchanged between different prelates and commentators on both sides of the debate.
But Fr Mark Drew thinks Cardinal Gerhard Müller, head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith, might be able to help…
0:55 Who is Cardinal Gerhard Müller?
4:12 Why does Cardinal Müller believe there are no reconcilable differences between the Pope and his predecessor?
7:07 What is the relationship like between Pope Francis and Cardinal Müller?
10:36 What was the significance of the German language group during the Family Synod? What was their famous compromise formula on Communion for the divorced and remarried?
14:00 What is a “lack of subjective guilt?”
15:27 Why is the Pope reluctant to allow Cardinal Müller to intervene?
18:09 What now for the four cardinals?
Books mentioned: Benedict and Francis, Succesors of Peter at the Service of the Church by Cardinal Gerhard Müller
