In the beginning, God made everything good, including the angels. But pride got in and Lucifer wanted to be like God, so war broke out in heaven and St. Michael threw out the bad angels. They roam around looking for souls to ruin.

What happened on Palm Sunday – first the people cheered for Jesus, shouting, “Hosanna in the highest!” There were a lot of disciples present, waving palm branches. But a few days later these folks were yelling, “Crucify him, crucify him.

Lent is coming to an end. Next week is Holy Week. Have we grown in holiness? Have we gotten closer to God this Lent? Sometimes holiness feels out of reach — like chasing a jackrabbit. We think we’ll never get there.

Lent is a grace-filled time of preparation to come closer to God. We often think about what we are going to give up during Lent, and fasting is a good thing. But let’s look at what God says is the kind of fasting that pleases Him.
