What If Real Life Were Like A Stage Production - C1G 007

March 09, 2015

This episode is one that invites the listener into the mind of a “Theatre Person”. As stage performers or technicians, we see life in a different way and sometimes we try and think about what it would be like if real life and stage life were to collide. Toni and Michael came up with a list of “What if …” questions and this episode is the result. Below is a list of the questions if you’d like to think them over in your own mind, or follow along with us as you listen.

If real life were like a stage production …

• Would we all face one direction all the time?
• Would chewing gum be out of the question?
• Would we explain all of our problems in song?
• If someone forgot what they were saying, would we feel obligated to keep the dialogue moving?
• If our conversation were over, would all of the lights go off?
• Would we take a 15 minute break in the middle of our “drama”?
• Would we really ever actually know a person’s skin color?
• Would we line up in front of the exits to shake everybody’s hand?
• Would we jump from 2 pm to 7 at night without living through the rest of the day?
• Would we get a read-thru before actually doing stuff?
• When we said something nasty, would we hear an omnipresent gasp?
• Would we peek through the curtains to see how many people were waiting outside?
• Would gangsters tap dance in the alley as they threw dice?
• Would we ever stand in shadows?
• If we were tired and wanted to sit down, would our furniture fly in behind us?
• Would we wear the same clothes for days at a time without washing them?
• If we weren’t speaking loudly enough, would our voices be magically amplified?
• Could we have an aside if we wanted to share our thoughts with some but not others?
• Would we hand out booklets with our bios in them before something went down?
• Would people clap when we did something particularly awesome?
• Would we sometimes have personal help changing our clothes?
