Bruce & Hobbes Podcast: Edwin Ortiz, Save US Pets Foundation

October 04, 2016

This week, Bruce & Hobbes are joined by:

Edwin Ortiz - Executive Director, Save US Pets Foundation

Save U.S. Pets Foundation, Inc. is an independent, all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to ensuring no pet is denied lifesaving veterinary treatment because of its owner’s inability to pay. The Foundation supports eligible grant requests for financial access to medical treatment of pets as submitted by participating veterinarians.

Just ten years ago, over 100,000 pets were receiving less than adequate medical care that they needed, and all too often, euthanasia was the chosen alternative. For the past ten years, Save U.S. Pets Foundation has reached out, raising funds and giving grants to help give pets a chance at a full life.

During his visit with Bruce & Hobbes, Edwin discusses:

-The Foundation’s history
-The Foundation’s mission
-The connection between Save US Pets and The Red Bank Veterinary Hospital network
-If (and why) cost is a factor in getting an animal companion the veterinary care he or she needs
-Why the perception that “veterinary care is expensive” isn’t correct
-How the Foundation’s Assistance Program works
-How veterinary hospitals collaborate with the Foundation
-The role a veterinarian plays in getting an animal (and their family) help
-The historic partnership with Bruce & Hobbes and their December 8th Gala
