Jean Jennings Talks With Boundless Vegan

March 17, 2013

Electric vehicles, driving cross country, fiscal bailouts, feminism, and being vegan: These are some of the topics Boundless Vegan covers in this latest episode with Jean Jennings, President and Editor in Chief of Automobile Magazine and the new automobile website Jean Knows Cars.

Before turning to the interview, be sure to spend time going over some of the concepts that Jean mentions. In talking about electric vehicles, she notes that they really come in three varieties: the pure electric vehicle, the hybrid, and the plug-in hybrid. You will also need to understand the concept of regenerative breaking. A few definitions are provided for you here:

Electric Vehicle – A vehicle that is powered by electricity. That electricity is usually stored in a battery.

Hybrid Vehicle – This vehicle uses two or more power sources. Most commonly today, it uses a combination of electric and conventional motors.

Plug-in Hybrid – This vehicle uses a conventional motor alongside an electric motor, which are usually charged up by plugging in to a stationary source.

Conventional vehicle – A vehicle powered by a conventional motor that uses gasoline or diesel fuel.
