In this Blind Vet Tech Quick Guides, News and Reviews podcast, we demonstrate how to use Aira’s Guest Access Program. Aira is a service that uses a combination of your smart phone, pair of smart glasses, or a computer to securely connect to a highly trained, professional agent to provide instant access to explore your visual world. Once connected, the agent can describe your surroundings, guide you through airports or convention centers, assist navigating inaccessible websites or PDF forms, sort the laundry or mail, read any documents, and so much more. Ensuring everyone maybe Abel to access the visual world, Aira established the Guest Access program.
Guest Access builds upon Aira’s initiative to make the world more accessible for all blind and visually impaired individuals. Through partnering entities and site access points, you can navigate a variety of airports, go shopping, have an agent describe the Boston Marathon route, troubleshoot an issue with VFO’s JAWS, or explore the Nugget Resort during the Blinded Veterans Association’s National Convention. A full list of available sites may be found within Aira’s iOS and Android apps.
Follow these 5 steps toBe Aira’s guest through Guest Access and redefine what it means to be independent:

* Download Aira for your iOS or Android device.
* Open the app and choose, Use Aira for free.
* Enter your email address and select “Sign up as a guest.”
* Visit one of the site access locations.
* Tap on the “Call Aira from phone” to connect with an agent.
