119: Save A Click Or Be A Dick

August 01, 2014

I rant about the fallacy of Virgin Mobile’s new “unbundled” wireless plan, how it’s yet another instance of a carrier hiding true costs through creative accounting, why those folks who rally for the ‘a la carte’ model fail to do simple math, and how this model could become a great disservice to lower-class citizens and hinder their ability to participate effectively and reap the benefits of a connected society.

In addition, I explain why OKCupid’s match score experiment is rooted in the delusion that we’re in control of our choices, how clickbait headlines only exist to compensate for thin content, why authors should be rioting against publishers over eBook prices rather than Amazon, how real estate agents are at fault for Zillow’s rising stranglehold over the home buyer market, and why technology that keeps deliveries hot should not be of top concern to fast-food places.
