125: Breaking Down COVID-19 with Dr. Aya Osman

December 23, 2020

On this episode, we talk with Dr. Aya Osman a neuroscientist and science communicator currently studying the gut-immune-brain axis role in neuropsychiatric disorders for her Post Doc at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Osman broke down exactly what is the coronavirus , some theories on its origins, and debunked some myths around the vaccine. We also acknowledged the apprehension around getting the vaccine in Black community due to America's past of violating our trust from the Tuskegee experiments to the use of enslaved women's bodies for gynecological advancement ( go peep124: Say their names: Anarcha, Lucy and Betsey)

Make sure you check out Dr. Osman's Instagram she provides so much more information @yes_iya.

We hope we can see more Black women in the medical field so if you have questions or interests reach out to her or DM us to be put in touch!
