Bill Stern was a sportscaster who when not in the broadcast booth, had a 15-minute program where he relayed exciting stories about his guests. The stories were similar to the kind Paul Harvey would tell years later in his "The Rest of the Story" program. Stern would add drama and excitement to the stories, well beyond what they deserved, and focused on irony or coincidence. They are entertaining. This recording is from an acetate plate, recently transcribed into this crisp digital format.

In 1984, Stern was part of the American Sportscasters Association Hall of Fame’s inaugural class which included sportscasting legends Red Barber, Don Dunphy, Ted Husing and Graham McNamee. He was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame (1988) and has a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
