Discount Cards & Clubs to Save Money in 2024

January 11, 2024

With the new year comes new year’s resolutions, and one of the most popular resolutions is trying to save money. We thought this would be a great time to share some clubs and discount cards we use to save money while RVing.

Saving at the Campground

Passport America

Passport America is a discount club that saves you 50% off your nightly stays. We are both lifetime members and believe this is an excellent way to save at campgrounds and RV resorts. They have an easy-to-use app to help you find participating campgrounds in the area you are traveling to. Passport America is also a brand we trust, as we have met and spoken with the company’s owner several times. Not only is he an RVer, but he truly believes in the Passport America product and is trying to improve the camping experience. You can use our link here to add an additional three months to your membership.

Belle Passport America

KOA

KOA Campgrounds are located nationwide and have what Kenny believes is the best RV app for booking a campground. We are both members of KOA, which gives us 10% off of campground stays and allows us to build points that can be turned in for credit to be taken off future stays. Kenny has stayed at over 50 different KOAs and has never had a bad experience with them. Unfortunately, we are not affiliated with them in any way, but we would like to be as they offer an excellent service for campers and RVers. Learn more about KOA here.

Good Sam

Good Sam is more than just a discount club used at campgrounds. This card is an excellent all-around card for your camping needs, saving you 10% at participating campgrounds, offering discounts on fuel, propane, and dump stations at Flying J’s, and providing free dump station service at Camping World. Good Sam also offers RV insurance, Roadside Assistance, and more. You can learn more about them here.

AARP

Kenny just joined AARP and found out some campgrounds offer a 10% discount on nightly stays. He has also been using the card at Flying J’s for 15% off at their Denny’s and purchased some discount AutoZone gift cards.

KOA Journey

Thousand Trails

Neither of us has a Thousand Trails membership, but we take the time to discuss the pros and cons of their service on the show. Sean has stayed at one of their campgrounds before, and he thought it was very nice. Here is a quick run-down of how the service works. One price per region of the country gives you 12 months of camping without additional fees. You can purchase five zones, and membership will allow you to camp overnight at any campgrounds listed in your zone(s) for up to 14 consecutive nights before you need to leave the system for seven nights. Each zone costs $775. Listen to the show to hear how this program can benefit you. Learn more about Thousand Trails here.

Saving at Gas Stations

Flying J Card

If you have the Good Sam card, this card will not do much for you as the Good Sam discount equals what the Flying J card offers, except for building points towards food and drink inside the store.

Loves Card

This card is one that Kenny has been using a lot, but starting in March, they are changing the card for what he feels is for the worse. They are removing the 10 cents off per gallon and switching to a point system that sounds more complicated than it needs to be and doesn’t sound like any of the points will be able to be used toward fuel. We hope a fuel discount will still be attached once the new system rolls out.

Loves

Maintenance

AutoZone: We believe AutoZone has one of the better reward programs out there. It is free to join, and for every (5) $20 purchase spent, you will receive a $20 credit towards your next purchase. AutoZone also offers an outstanding loan a tool free program to help you repair and maintain your RV, saving you tons of money.

Camping World with Good Sam Card

With your Good Sam card, you will receive $50 off service twice a year at Camping World. You can use this link to view all benefits and find a store locator of a participating Camping World location.

RV Membership Clubs

FMCA

If you have listened to our show any time, you know that we are big fans of the FMCA Club. We believe they are very good for the RV community and help RVers in several ways. From their Tech Connect, which offers truly unlimited data plans, to their conventions that bring us all together, to their discounts on several RV programs, FMCA works hard for RVers. To see a complete list of benefits, click here: https://www.fmca.com/fmcarvclubbenefits, and to see a complete list of their discounts, click here: https://www.fmca.com/rv-discount-clubs and click here to save $10 on a new membership https://join.fmca.com/btw10/

Escapees

Escapees is another RV club that does a lot for RVers as they constantly fight for RVing rights. They also have a Roadside assistance service and a mail forwarding service, both of which Kenny uses. To learn more about Escapee, click here.

Winnebago GoLife

This is a club that Kenny is part of and will only be beneficial to you if you own a Winnebago. The club offers discounts on Winnebago parts, apparel, and Michelin tires. However, the club has a free online magazine available to anyone, and Kenny is one of the writers. You can find that here.

We Would Love to Hear From You!

Please comment below on your experience with any of these memberships or discount cards, or let us know of one you use to save money that we did not discuss.

Take care, and have a safe trip!
