“The Rocket Girls” who put the Men on the Moon

April 20, 2014

President Kennedy’s charge to the nation – put a man on the moon – later became known was Project Apollo and became one of the country’s greatest accomplishments.

But it couldn’t and wouldn’t get done with the hard work and dedication of countless men and women.  And that’s the focus of this presentation – the women who put those first men on the moon and then went on to lead our space program to become a source of national pride and accomplishment.

You’ll enjoy this special presentation led by Eileen Collins, the first woman commander of a Space Shuttle flight, especially the part about Eileen wanting to be a singer but not being good enough for her grade school choir.

Thanks again to the Public Radio Exchange for making this programming available to us.
