Ambergris Caye, Belize

Looking to start of the new year by escaping the cold and taking an amazing beach vacation? This travel podcast episode focuses on the best January vacations for you to consider in planning your perfect January beach vacation. There are countless beaches, islands, and destinations that would make for an amazing January beach vacation, but the top three that you should book right now are:

Ambergris Caye, Belize

Kauai, Hawaii

  • Oldest of the main Hawaiian islands and fourth largest in size, it is located farthest away from the Big Island
  • Peak whale watching season begins in January and average temperature is in the mid to high 70s

    • There is slightly more rainfall in January than rest of the year, but reduced crowds and amazing whales watching makes up for it

  • Best beaches to visit on your Hawaiian vacation:

    • Tunnels Beach – located on north shore it provides some of the best snorkeling on the island
    • Poipu Beach – named the best beach in America by the Travel Channel. Stunningly beautiful and great place for beach activities, but also very crowded
    • Mahaulepu Coastline – three beaches in this area (Gillin’s beach, Kawailoa Bay, Ha’ula Beach) provide beautiful scenery and relative privacy

St. Lucia

  • 238 square mile island located in the southern Caribbean between Caribbean Sea on one side, the Atlantic Ocean on the other, and north of Trinidad and Tobago
  • Former British Commonwealth, so English is the official language
  • Average air temperature of 79 degrees Fahrenheit; average sea temperature of a balmy 81 degrees!
  • Very easily reachable from the US
  • Beaches on the western coast generally have tranquil turquoise water while the beaches on the eastern coast generally have rougher water
  • Best beaches on the island:

    • Reduit Beach – gorgeous sandy beach stretching for five miles that is one of the most popular beaches in St. Lucia
    • Anse Chastanet – lined with natural black volcanic sand. Located near a popular off-shore marine reserve providing spectacular snorkeling
    • Malgretoute Beach – located in the shadows of the Jade Pitons and providing some of the most romantic scenery in the world
