Stephon Marbury is going back to the CBA finals

March 13, 2014

Big time players make big time plays in big time games and in China, Stephon Marbury is ‘big time’.

The Beijing Ducks led for a majority of the game as they defeat the regular season champion Guangdong Southern Tigers 110 -102.

Marbury finished with a game-high 31-points on nine of 15 shooting. Down the stretch when Guangdong was making a push to comeback and take the lead Marbury stepped up and took control hitting three straight shots including a sweet floater in the lane over CBA’s most valuable player Yi Jianlian.

Marbury averaged 33-points in this series. Randolph Morris pitched in with a double-double, 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Ducks while Yi led the way for Guangdong with 30-points and nine rebound.

For 37-year-old Marbury, it’s the second time in three years he leads his Beijing Ducks team to the finals. The last time Marbury played in the finals (2011-2012) he won the CBA championship.

The Ducks will face CBA foreign MVP Lester Hudson and the Xinjiang Flying Tigers in the finals. Game 1 is schedule for Wednesday, March 19th at 7:30 p.m in Xinjiang.
