BROpinions Episode 6: E3 Predictions

May 27, 2016

Hello, Internets! Leviathan, Mojave, and OutBREAK are here to give you their predictions for 2016’s E3!  We discuss our expectations for the 2016 E3 show, what we think of the possibility of new hardware from Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo, and what we think about publishers like Activision and EA will have very little presence at this year’s show. Check it out, share it, and we hope you enjoy!  Also, stay tuned for our E3 coverage coming in a couple weeks!!

What do you want to see from the publishers?
OutBREAK – I want to see something huge from Bethesda. They really set the bar high last year and I’m honestly hoping for a new IP rather than a new Elder Scrolls or Fallout. From EA, I want to see a revival of the Street franchises.  I want more NBA and NFL Street games!!! If anything, I’d like to see another arcade style title like Madden NFL Arcade or Blitz.  Part of me wants to see Battlefront 2 but another part of me doesn’t want to forgive EA for BFront 1. Battlefield 1 gameplay, extensively. I want to see the end of Toys-to-life games. Disney already backed out of Infinity. I want to see the same with Skylanders. If anything new is to come from Toys-to-life, I’d prefer it be LEGO Dimensions.
Mojave – More on Borderlands 3, or whatever it will be named since it hasn’t been officially confirmed on what it will be called. With Battleborn just hitting the scene, it may be a tall order to see more than the teaser just released. Darker Siders 3 with a decent port to PC would be nice. Would Left for Dead 3 be asking too much?
Leviathan – As far as Toys-to-Life games go, I still want Pokemon, not amiibo. A dedicated Pokemon game.

What genre do you think we’ll see the most of?
OB – With the rising popularity, high demand, and revivals of old titles like Ratchet & Clank, I think we’ll see lots of action/adventure platformers.
MO – I’m thinking story heavy RPG’s and shooters since they sell.
LV – First person shooters and action adventure games always seem to work out.

Who do you think will steal the show?
OB – Bethesda, again. There’s no doubt in my mind coming off the heels of such a big presentation last year that they’ve got even more in the pipeline for this year.  I think if they announce Elder Scrolls VI alone, they’ll leave jaws on the floor.
MO – Battlefield 1 went full PR mode with its trailer and it would take a lot to reach the same hype coming off E3, so I would say a GTA6 announcement could take the expo. If not, I’d bank on Bethesda.
LV – Bethesda always surprises.
